Wim De Maesschalck

Expert MV substations Fluvius

Wim De Maesschalck is an Electromechanical Engineer and holds a masters degree in Power Engineering.  
He has been working at Fluvius since 2005 and started his career in the technology department – first in LV aerial networks, gas substations and since 2010 in medium-voltage substations.

Since 2016, he has been working as an expert in the Asset Management department with a primary focus on medium-voltage substations: functional requirements, life cycle management & end-of-life strategies.

Since 2019 he has been leading the roll-out of digitalisation in substations.

He also takes part as expert in the Technology and Knowledge Sharing Committee of European Distribution System Operators (E.DSO).

Ecodesign regulation is under review and both energy and material efficiency requirements will be set.

  • This poses a number of challenges to electricity distribution operators. This panel discussion will analyse possible solutions at hand to meet these new requirements taking into consideration managing the end of life and varying degrees of recyclability.
