Celebrate excellence in electrical engineering at world-leading exhibition CWIEME Berlin, across four different award categories.

CWIEME Berlin, the leading exhibition for the electrification supply chain, is bringing back its industry awards following strong interest from the electrical engineering community. This year’s awards will celebrate the people and projects driving the next era of electrification. The award ceremony will take place during the exhibition on May 21, 2026, at the Central Grid (formerly the Central Stage) from 10-11am, bringing together industry leaders, innovators and engineers to recognise outstanding achievements across the electrical engineering industry.

The 2026 exhibition will be the first time in four years that CWIEME has hosted its industry awards, and four award categories have been announced: Future Engineers, CWIEME Sustainability and Leadership, Product of the Year, and CWIEME Engineer of the Year. The awards are open to a wide range of applicants, from engineers and innovators to students and sustainability leaders. The calls for entries open on January 19 and close on April 13.

Sponsored by Hitachi Energy, the Future Engineers award recognises the next generation of engineers, honouring standout projects from students and student teams that demonstrate innovation and industry relevance. University students, graduate teams, academic groups and early-career project teams are all encouraged to enter. On offer is a grand prize of a six-month internship with Hitachi Energy, an iPad and branded merchandise. Second- and third-place winners will also receive branded merchandise.

“The Future Engineers award recognizes young talents shaping the electricity era with curiosity and technical ambition. This sponsorship also strengthens our valued partnership with CWIEME, and we look forward to expanding our partnership in attracting young talents for the technical challenges of the future.” explained Alexander Sauer, HR Manager Transformer Insulation & Components, Europe at Hitachi Energy.

The CWIEME Sustainability and Leadership award celebrates companies, individuals and projects that deliver meaningful sustainability progress in manufacturing and product development. Meanwhile, the Product of the Year award honours those that stand out for quality and innovation, with clear success from concept to real-world application. R&D teams, engineering groups, manufacturers and product development teams are all encouraged to apply.

Finally, the CWIEME Engineer of the Year will be awarded to someone who has delivered exceptional results in design, problem-solving and project delivery. The winner will have demonstrated exceptional technical design, engineering skill or innovation and successfully delivered a complex project using creative thinking.

“2026 marks CWIEME Berlin’s 30th anniversary, so this was a great opportunity to bring back our highly successful awards scheme,” said Melissa Magestro, Portfolio Director at CWIEME. “The awards are designed to shine a light on the people and projects who are helping drive the electrification industry, whether it’s through their product development, technical skill or commitment to sustainability.

“By celebrating these achievements, we not only recognise excellence across the sector but also aim to inspire collaboration, innovation and progress as the industry continues to evolve to meet the challenges of a more electrified future.”

CWIEME Berlin 2026 takes place at Messe Berlin from May 19 to 21. Discover the awards and to apply for one of the categories.
