Dr. Gunter Erfurt is a board-level executive, advisor, and transformation leader with more than two decades of international experience in technology, manufacturing, and the energy sector. He currently serves as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Next2Sun AG and holds multiple deep-tech start-up and scale-up advisory board mandates, including roles in the U.S. and Germany with Swift Solar, Elementarhy, and Pinpoint. He is also active in key industry governance functions, including the German Solar Industry Association (Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft), bringing strategic oversight, stakeholder alignment, and deep sector expertise to high-growth and innovation-driven organizations.
Previously, as CEO of Meyer Burger Technology AG, Dr. Erfurt led one of the most ambitious industrial transformation programs in the solar sector. Under his leadership, the company pivoted from equipment manufacturing to integrated solar production, and established new factories in both Europe and the United States. His work has been closely associated with resilience, industrial renewal, and the rebuilding of solar manufacturing capabilities in Germany and the U.S. in highly challenging market conditions. With a background in physics and engineering, he combines technical depth with boardroom credibility and a strong commitment to sustainable industrial competitiveness and industry and trade policy that enables a fair-level playing field in Europe.
