The Global Meeting Place for the Electrical Manufacturing Supply Chain

Five industry announcements that shaped CWIEME Berlin 2026

26 Jun 2026 | Articles

From product launches to long-term partnerships, explore five industry announcements that demonstrate why CWIEME Berlin is where the future of transformers, motors and electrification takes shape.

Every year, CWIEME Berlin brings together the companies, engineers and decision-makers driving progress across the transformer, motor and electrical manufacturing industries. While thousands of conversations take place across the exhibition floor, many also lead to significant announcements that reflect the direction of the industry.

From product launches and strategic partnerships to manufacturing investments and industry milestones, CWIEME Berlin 2026 once again demonstrated its role as the global meeting place for transformer, motor and e-mobility innovators.

Here are five announcements that captured the momentum of this year's event.

Hitachi Energy launches transformer technologies for the next generation of power networks

Hitachi Energy unveiled two new transformer component solutions during CWIEME Berlin 2026: GARIP® Eco, its next generation SF₆-free transformer GIS bushing, and VUBB Compact, a new on-load tap changer designed for more compact transformer designs. Together, the launches reflect the industry's continued focus on reducing environmental impact while delivering more efficient, flexible and space-saving solutions for modern power networks. As utilities and manufacturers respond to changing regulations and increasing demand for grid infrastructure, component innovation continues to play an important role in supporting the transition.

Trench Group and SGB-SMIT strengthen supply for critical grid infrastructure

One of the major partnership announcements at CWIEME Berlin saw Trench Group and SGB-SMIT Group sign a long-term capacity agreement covering the supply of high-voltage bushings for US utility projects operating at up to 765 kV. The agreement highlights the growing importance of collaboration across the transformer value chain as manufacturers work to strengthen supply resilience and support grid expansion projects driven by electrification, renewable energy and increasing electricity demand.

Hirect expands manufacturing capability for transformers and electric motors

Hirect used CWIEME Berlin 2026 to announce the commercial availability of three new copper conductor product lines manufactured at its newly commissioned processing facility. Designed for use in power transformers, traction motors and other high-power electrical applications, the investment expands production capacity while incorporating advanced quality assurance and testing capabilities. The announcement reflects continued investment in manufacturing as demand grows across electrical infrastructure, transport and industrial electrification.

PTTX Türkiye marks a new manufacturing milestone

PTTX Türkiye announced the successful launch of transformer core production at its manufacturing facility in Türkiye during CWIEME Berlin 2026. The milestone represents an important step in the company's global manufacturing strategy and strengthens regional production capacity for transformer components. As demand for transformers continues to grow worldwide, investments in manufacturing capability are helping to build more resilient supply chains and improve responsiveness for customers across key markets.

Reinhausen celebrates 100 years of transformer innovation

CWIEME Berlin 2026 also provided the setting for a significant industry milestone as Reinhausen celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Jansen patent, the invention that established the resistor-type tap changer as a key technology in modern power systems. More than 400 customers, partners and industry experts from over 30 countries came together to mark the occasion, recognising a century of engineering progress while looking ahead to the future of electrification. The celebration reflected the collaborative spirit of the industry and the partnerships that continue to drive innovation across global energy systems.

Driving the industry forward

These announcements represent just a small selection of the activity taking place throughout CWIEME Berlin 2026. Together, they demonstrate how the event continues to provide a platform for companies to launch new technologies, strengthen partnerships, expand manufacturing capability and celebrate the achievements shaping the future of the industry.

As the world's largest coil winding and electrical manufacturing exhibition, CWIEME Berlin remains where the entire industry comes together to exchange ideas, build relationships and drive progress across the global transformer, motor and power sectors.
