Electrical manufacturing community gathers in Berlin for milestone edition

CWIEME Berlin 2026 concluded after three days of innovation, collaboration and industry-shaping discussion at Messe Berlin, marking a hugely successful 30th anniversary edition for the world’s leading event for the electrical manufacturing supply chain.

This year’s event welcomed 435 exhibitors and achieved a total community footfall of over 11,700 across the three days. Compared with 2025, unique visitor attendance increased year-on-year, while overall visitor footfall also rose. The show floor was noticeably busier throughout the event, creating a vibrant and energetic atmosphere across the halls.

Opening on May 19, the event brought together engineers, R&D specialists, procurement professionals and senior executives from around the world to explore the technologies, partnerships and strategies shaping the future of electrification.

The event was officially opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Portfolio Director Melissa Magestro, alongside members of the CWIEME Berlin advisory committee and Hyve Group leadership. During the ceremony, it was also announced that the new Grid Delivery Summit, a conference focused on accelerating grid infrastructure, will launch at CWIEME Berlin 2027.

Across the three days, attendees explored a packed conference programme spanning the Central Grid and Electric Motor Forum stages. Topics included digitalisation and smart grid intelligence, electric motors at a crossroads, decarbonising the copper value chain, material innovation and navigating geopolitical risks impacting the global supply chain. Wind energy pioneer, Henrik Stiesdal, was this year’s keynote speaker, giving a thought-provoking talk on day one of the exhibition.

“As today’s keynote, I was in brilliant company with the wider speaker programme. I think it is fantastic,” commented Stiesdal. “When you collect people who have genuine insight, something comes out of it through the dialogue that makes the whole more than the sum of its parts. And I think that's what an event like this does. I have to admit, I'm ashamed that I have not been here before. I’ll definitely be returning.”

Running alongside the exhibition was EEMODS, the internationally recognised conference focused on improving the efficiency of electric motors, drives and motor-driven systems, which was also celebrating its 30th anniversary.

The C-Suite Club returned following its successful launch in 2025, hosting senior industry leaders for strategic discussions. The room was full, with representatives from the European Commission, CEMEP, EUROPUMP, the German Energy Agency (DENA) and many more. Elsewhere, the Transmission & Distribution Club and Innovation Zone once again proved popular destinations on the exhibition floor.

“We came to CWIEME Berlin this year because it’s the perfect place to meet potential customers, suppliers and even competitors,” said Nicola Bortolamei, General Manager of Barberi Electric, one of this year’s exhibitors. “It’s a very important exhibition for our business because it brings the whole industry together in one place.

“We’ve been exhibiting here for many years, and during that time we’ve built long-term, strong relationships with both customers and suppliers. That’s exactly why this exhibition is so valuable to us.”

Day three placed a particular focus on the future of the industry, with dedicated sessions and activities centred around Future Engineers and Women in Engineering initiatives. Students, graduates and young professionals had the opportunity to connect with industry leaders and gain first-hand insight into careers within electrical engineering and manufacturing.

Day three also saw the return of the CWIEME Awards, where Raj Manoj Bag was presented with the Future Engineers award, Green Lead Market – Transformers (AGGLS) was given the Sustainability & Leadership Award, Hecht AG was presented with Product of the Year for its PrecisOR and Dr Yali Feng was crowned Engineer of the Year. Finally, Giampiero Pari was recognised for his lifelong contribution to the industry with the CWIEME Hall of Fame award.

“The energy across the exhibition floor this year was unmistakable,” said Melissa Magestro, Portfolio Director for CWIEME Berlin. “From packed aisles and busy stands to meaningful business conversations, new partnerships and product launches, CWIEME Berlin once again proved itself as the place where the global electrical manufacturing community comes together to connect, innovate and do business.”

The event concluded with strong momentum heading into 2027, with over 80 per cent of 2026 exhibitors rebooking their stands, reinforcing CWIEME Berlin’s position as the global meeting place for the electrical engineering and manufacturing supply chain.
