Collective Resilience: How the TSO Innovation Alliance is Shaping Europe’s Future Grid

As Europe’s electricity grid faces increasing pressure from climate extremes, decentralisation, and rapid electrification, innovation must scale faster, and more collaboratively across borders and organisations.

This session introduces the TSO Innovation Alliance, a TSO-led open innovation initiative bringing together eight European transmission system operators to jointly identify, test, and scale solutions that enhance grid resilience and efficiency.

Moving beyond fragmented innovation approaches, the Alliance provides a structured pathway from shared challenges to joint Proofs of Concept (PoCs), enabling faster validation and deployment of new technologies.

  • The TSO Innovation Alliance model: from shared challenges to joint Proofs of Concept

  • What we are testing today: early PoCs on resilience and efficiency

  • What this means for the ecosystem: how manufacturers, technology providers, and innovators can engage with TSOs
