What initially interested you in the electrical engineering/coil winding industry?
I am always on the lookout for interesting research topics related to the automotive industry, especially the innovative trends that come out of the field. A current development that has my attention is the software-defined car, which requires a combined effort from different sectors, from mobility service providers to electrical hardware engineers.

Can you give me a brief history of your work in the industry?
In short, I’m a political scientist turned automotive engineer. My interests started with the transportation sector in cities like Los Angeles, which led me to product marketing at Daimler Chrysler for a couple of years. In 2004 I founded CAM (Centre of Automotive Management) to embark on the journey that I am still on today to understand the evolution of the mobility universe and develop practical solutions for the industry.

What made you want to become a CWIEME speaker?
I am delighted to be invited as a speaker at this event, it seems there will be many interesting topics that will be discussed. It’s inspiring to see so many experts in their respective fields coming together at the exhibition and I’m really looking forward to seeing this first-hand. I’m particularly impressed with the professional approach, I think it sets up the speakers to have a better impact.

What are you most looking forward to seeing at this year's event?
In the last 20 years or so, I have been in the position to observe many transformations in the automotive and mobility world. The founding of Uber, the Tesla launch and the rise of China as a major player have all had an incredible impact on the scene. What I’m looking forward to seeing at CWIEME Berlin is how the different perspectives can come together to navigate this evolving landscape and inspire what’s next.

What technology do you think is going to have the biggest impact over the next ten years?
One very important, mid and long-term development that is going to change the whole industry is autonomous driving. We’re not only talking about robotaxis that have already been rolled out in San Francisco and across cities in China but also in the ownership world. The current big players are going to have to adapt, or risk being left behind and they are aware of the effort that it will take to do this.

To meet more experts and make key connections in electrical engineering and coil winding, join CWIEME Berlin.
