The Electrical Energy Management Group (EEMG) at the University of Bristol is one of the world’s largest academic groups focused on Power Electronics, Electrical Machines, Energy Systems, and Mechanical Systems Dynamics. The group’s research aims to reduce carbon emissions and accelerate the transition to Net Zero by developing high-efficiency, sustainable energy technologies. EEMG is structured into four core teams, each specialising in a critical aspect of the electrical energy chain: machine design, energy generation, grid integration, and storage.

The Electrical Machine Works (TEMW) is a research group within EEMG focused on the next generation of electrical machine design and manufacturing. Research within TEMW leverages the geometric design freedom enabled by advanced and additive manufacturing methods to improve the power density, thermal performance, and material efficiency of high-performance electric motors and generators. Through ongoing collaboration with industry partners, TEMW delivers practical, scalable innovations to meet the current demands of the automotive and aerospace sectors.
