Leading event marks 30 years of innovation with a successful first day
On May 19, CWIEME Berlin opened its doors for a very special 30th anniversary edition. Taking place at Messe Berlin, the event brings together engineering, R&D and procurement professionals from across the electrical manufacturing supply chain.
The event was officially opened by portfolio director Melissa Magestro at an inspiring ribbon-cutting ceremony. Alongside her were Giampiero Pari, a board member who has attended the event for 29 years; Julie Driscoll, president of Hyve Group; and representatives from CWIEME Berlin’s extensive advisory board.
During the ceremony, it was announced that in 2027, CWIEME Berlin will be co-located with a new event, the Grid Delivery Summit. This dedicated platform is designed to address one of the most pressing challenges facing the energy sector: turning grid strategy into deliverable infrastructure.
The Grid Delivery Summit will connect the electrification value chain from utilities and grid operators to transformer equipment OEMs, as well as global supply chain leaders. It will take place from May 11-12, 2027, alongside CWIEME Berlin.
Excitement only continued to grow as day one progressed, with talks from some of the industry’s leading faces taking place across CWIEME Berlin’s two main stages – the Central Grid and Electric Motor Forum. In the afternoon, Professor Henrik Stiesdal, considered by many to be the father of modern Danish wind power, delivered the keynote speech: Advancing Resilient, Affordable and Clean Energy Through Transmission and Distribution Innovation.
Running parallel for the first time was EEMODS, a leading international conference focussed on improving the efficiency of electric motors, drives and motor-driven systems. Despite being a closed-door, paid conference, a plenary session was hosted on the Electric Motor Forum for CWIEME attendees to join.
Elsewhere, the C-Suite Club returned following its launch in 2025, as did the Transmission & Distribution Club, which hosted a series of roundtables from a dedicated area on the exhibition floor. Presentations also took place throughout the day from an expanded Innovation Zone – another new introduction in 2025.
“We’ve already seen lots of new technologies at CWIEME Berlin,” said Christian Loos, Head of Sales and Service at Komax Taping GmbH, one of this year’s exhibitors. “Over the coming days, we’re looking forward to meeting new business prospects and some of our most critical customers.”
The day concluded with the PowerUp Party – a celebration of 30 years of CWIEME Berlin. Here, attendees gathered to mark the end of a successful first day.
We’re looking forward to welcoming attendees back tomorrow and hopefully seeing new faces too. There’s still time to register for a visitor ticket if you’d like to attend – you can do so by visiting the CWIEME Berlin website.
