A long-term capacity agreement signed at CWIEME Berlin 2026 will help secure the supply of high-voltage bushings for critical grid infrastructure projects
A long-term capacity agreement signed at CWIEME Berlin 2026 will help secure the supply of high-voltage bushings for critical grid infrastructure projects in the United States, reinforcing the importance of collaboration across the global transformer value chain.
The announcement
During CWIEME Berlin 2026, Trench Group and SGB-SMIT Group announced a long-term agreement covering the supply of high-voltage bushings for utility projects across the United States.
The agreement will support transformer projects operating at voltage levels up to 765 kV, with components supplied through HSP, Trench Group's specialist high-voltage bushing business.
SGB-SMIT, one of Europe's largest independent transformer manufacturers, operates production facilities across Europe, North America and Asia. Trench Group brings expertise across the high-voltage component value chain, including engineering, manufacturing and long-term asset support.
The partnership reflects growing demand for transmission infrastructure as utilities expand grid capacity to support electrification, renewable integration and rising power consumption.
Why it matters
Grid operators around the world are facing increasing pressure to secure critical equipment and reduce delivery risk. Agreements such as this demonstrate how manufacturers and suppliers are working together to strengthen supply resilience and support large-scale transmission and distribution projects.
