Aperam is a global player in stainless, electrical and specialty steel, with customers in over 40 countries. As from 31.12.2021, the business is organized in four primary reportable segments: Stainless & Electrical Steel, Services & Solutions, Alloys & Specialties, and Recycling. Aperam has a flat Stainless and Electrical steel capacity of 2.5 million tonnes in Brazil and Europe and is a leader in high value specialty products. In addition to its industrial network, spread over six production facilities in Brazil, Belgium and France, Aperam has a highly integrated distribution, processing and services network and a unique capability to produce stainless and special steels from low cost biomass (charcoal made from its own FSC-certified forestry). With ELG, Aperam is also a global leader in collecting, trading, processing and recycling of stainless steel scrap and high performance alloys, delivering~ 1.2 m tonnes of materials annually. Aperam Alloys Imphy is the Alloys branch of this Group, specialized in the Nickel and Cobalt Alloys. These high-added values alloys are used in the Aerospace, Automotive, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Processes, Medical, and Oil & Gas sectors. Imphy has a research center renowned for over 100 years (Centre de Recherche Pierre Chevenard) whose scientists, engineers and technicians, in partnership with customers develop the alloys of the future. Among others FeCo grades, a “fully process” soft magnetic Fe-Co alloy has been developed for the onboard generators to combine the need of the low magnetic losses of stators and the high strength of rotors and also facilitates production process. Aperam South America, an other branch of Aperam Group, has been producing electrical steel for several decades. Today, it is Latin American’s exclusive producer of grain oriented (GO) and non-oriented (NGO) steel. Electrical steels are renowned for their excellent magnetic properties and ability to increase the efficiency of electrical equipment – the result of having silicon in their chemical composition and the use of strict process controls during production.
